LLL/LHM Booth at the 2023 Kansas State Fair

Over 60 volunteers from 10 congregations provided their time and talents to make the LLL presence at the 2023 Kansas State Fair a huge success as they shared Bibles and other religious materials with youth and adults.  Many other congregational members helped with their time and dedication as they collected the Bibles and religious materials that were offered gratis to fair attendees.  Keren, comfort dog, and members from Immanuel Luteran Church in Ellsworth, Kansas, were able to be in the booth for about five hours during each of five days.  Keren was able to have many favorable interactions with the fair attendees.

The Kansas District Lutheran Laymen's League was listed as a bronze sponsor for the fair.

We thank and praise our Lord and Savior for the many opportunities that were available to witness to the many people that stopped by the booth.

Mike Tonn, LLL Kansas State Fair Booth Committee Chairman

LLL/LHM Booth at the 2022 Kansas State Fair

The 2022 Kansas State Fair and the LLL/LHM booth is now completed. The opening day was blessed to have Keren, the comfort dog from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth in the booth.  Members from Immanuel handled Keren throughout her six hour presence at the booth.  Keren attracted many people to the booth to learn more about this special ministry.

Over 50 volunteers, representing eight congregations, worked in the booth.  Many congregations across the LCMS Kansas District provided religious material to handout to children and adults.  Several people commented that they were very appreciative of LLL/LHM booth and the contacts that were made.

Special thanks to Terry Simpson, Dave Rupp, and Bill Wiese for their help in setting up the booth.  All praise and thanks to our Lord and Savior for providing these opportunities to share our faith!

Mike Tonn, LLL Kansas State Fair Booth Committee Chairman

LLL/LHM Booth at the 2021 Kansas State Fair

We were blessed with the response that we had when the decision was made to have the booth at the 2021 Kansas State Fair.  The Kansas District LWML served as collection point for material.  Ten congregations were represented with booth volunteers that numbered at least 50.  The support was overwhelming.  A number of fair participants commented that they were pleased that we had a booth and were able to provide religious material for children and adults.

Special thanks to Terry Simpson, Dave Rupp, and Bill Wiese for their help in setting up the booth.  Blessings to everyone who supported the outreach efforts though the booth.

Mike Tonn, LLL Kansas State Fair Booth Committee Chairman

The Kansas State Fair was cancelled in 2020 because of the danger that COVID-19 virus infections might be transmitted among the fair attendees.  Consequently, the Kansas District LLL/LHM booth could not be exhibited at the Kansas State Fair in September 2020.

LLL/LHM Booth at the 2019 Kansas State Fair

The 34th year of the Kansas District LLL/LHM presence at the Kansas State Fair is now history.  The booth was open from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. from the opening of the fair on Friday, September 6, 2019 until Sunday, September 15, 2019.  The booth was located in the southwest corner of the Meadowlark Exhibition Hall.

Many congregations of the LCMS Kansas District provided religious materials that were shared at the booth.  The distributed materials included Portals of Prayers and My Devotions devotional booklets, Holy Bibles, Sunday school material, hand-made book marks, and other religious materials.  Booth volunteers represented eight LCMS Kansas congregations.  Financial support to purchase these items came from the LLL/LHM Kansas District, a pancake feed, and donations.

One of the goals of the state fair booth ministry is to engage the children with a gift that then leads to conversation with their parents and other family members as well as other individuals that stop at the booth.

May God continue to bless the team work of the committee and of the many volunteers as they share their faith and commitment.  All praise and thanks to our Lord and Savior for providing these opportunities to be His witnesses.  Blessings and thank you!
