The 2011 Family Retreat that was held Friday, August 5, 2011,
through Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Camp Webster near Salina. There were 111 attendees,
ranging from toddlers to grandparents.
The Lutheran Family Retreat schedule included a bible
study/Sunday school each day and a Sunday worship service. The rest of the time
was "Family Free Time" for the enjoyment of camp activities. The camp activities
included; a climbing wall, the fly, the zip line, a high challenge course, canoes,
paddle boats, swimming, air rifle, tetherball, basketball, crafts, sand dig, and just
relaxing. Evening activities includes a camp fire at the lake with S'mores and the
"Lutherans Got Talent" show with numerous snacks.
Attendees of the Kansas Lutheran Family Retreat range from
toddlers to grandparents. The Kansas Lutheran Family Retreat provides parents and
grandparents the opportunity to spend quality time with their children and grandchildren
while enjoying the fellowship of other Lutherans.
The dormitories at the Webster Conference Center are air conditioned.
Each room has four double bunk beds, a bath, and a shower for each family.
All meals are provided during the Kansas Lutheran Family
Retreat in the air-conditioned dining hall. There is no kitchen duty for the attendees.
The Retreat Committee did a fantastic job organizing and running the
retreat. LLL and LWML each provide 3 members for the retreat committee plus other volunteers.
