It has been decided that the LLL/LWML Family Retreat at the Webster Conference Center in Salina, Kansas, will no longer be held.
This decision was based on the following considerations:
No one has stepped forward to take the job of Chairman of the 2015 Kansas LLL/LWML Family Retreat committee.
All those who have been involved with the retreat were sent e-mail messages that asked them to respond with their ideas; only three responses were received.
The Kansas Distict LWML leadership informed us that it favored discontinuing the Kansas LLL/LWML Family Retreat.
Participation in the Kansas LLL/LWML Family Retreat has declined in recent years. Only 56 persons attended the Kansas LLL/LWML Family Retreat in August 2014.
A meeting of the Kansas LLL/LWML Family Retreat committee was called; those in attendance decided to discontinue the family retreat.
2014 Kansas Lutheran Family Retreat Report
The 2014 LLL/LWML Lutheran Family Retreat was held at Camp Webster
near Salina, Kansas on August 2, 3, and 4, 2014, with 56 attendees.
The Retreat Committee did a superb job of organizing
and running the retreat. Many thanks are extended to the committee members for the time
and effort that they voluntarily expended in making this event a wholesome and joyful celebration
of the family in Christ Jesus.
The retreat schedule included a Bible study classes each day and a
Sunday worship service. The rest of the time was Family Free Time, dedicated to the enjoyment of the camp activities.
These activities included climbing wall, the fly, zip line, high challenge course, canoes, paddle boats, swimming,
air rifle, archery, tetherball, basketball, crafts, sand dig, and just relaxing and visiting. Evening
activities on Friday included a camp fire at the lake with S’mores. Evening activities on Saturday
included line dancing and games; of course, snacks were served.
The dormitories at the Webster Conference Center were air conditioned.
Each room has several double bunks, with a bath and shower for each family. Great meals
were provided, and there was no kitchen duty for the retreat attendees.
Attendees ranged from toddlers to grandparents.
